In 2004 the Monnickendam based Hakvoort shipyard launched the 46m Flamingo Daze, today known as Allegria. Allegria was designed by Glade Johnson with naval architecture by Vripack. Early 2007 she was sold and her current owner made substantial improvements to the yacht, making her one of the most popular charter yachts. SYT speaks with the owner of Allegria.

A high tech yet visually appealing superyacht with harmonious forms and an eye-catching colour scheme. The hull is painted a baby blue colour typically used for smaller sized sports hulls, setting Madsummer apart from other yachts as a marvellous “toy”. A very personal yacht, she conveys serenity and privacy, along with a youthful, sociable spirit.

When she first saw it at its berth in Nice, its interior was swathed in purple. Purple draperies. Purple sofas. Purple walls. Even purple paper covering the dining table. Purple, purple, everywhere—deep purple, light purple and all the purply shades in between. “Room after room after room was purple,” says New York designer Joanne de Guardiola. “I’ve never seen so many imaginative uses of purple.” So much purple would have been odd anywhere, but on a yacht, sleek and gleaming white on the outside, it was downright peculiar.
